What should I gift for hostfamily?

I'll go to the U.S. in August for SUMMER TURE produced by Shizuoka University.
I should gift for my hostfamily, but I don't know what I should buy.
What makes them happy?
There's 4 members, father, mother, son in college, and daughter studies art and animation.
Aya who stay at the same house with me has alwayse bought 2 tenugui(Japanese towel). So,not enough.
I have wanted to buy a wind bell, but given it,there's nothing for son and daughter.
I can't imagine what makes them happy...traditional goods?modern Japanese goods?unique stationery?

Please give me some idea!!

souvenir

Hiroko-san,

As a souvenir to foreign friends, I often bring a T-shirt with Kanji characters on it. Trust me! They'll like it, especially college students.

I also bring extra 5-yen coins since there's no coin with a hole in the US. I gave those to whoever I chatted; you can use them as a conversation opener explaining that the word "goen" means "bond" and tell him/her this encounter could be the beginning of a life-lasting relationship between the two.

It doesn't have to be romantic relationship, you know. Give them to a taxi driver or someone who sits next to you in the airplane. Of course, kids usually love to collect foreign coins.

I'm sure it will add some new color to your trip.

Find a lot of "goen" during the trip!

Thank you for advice!

Dear.Mumky

And 5-yen coins are wonderful idea!!!!
It is cheap and make good relationship with many people.
I did't know that there's no coin with a hole in US.
These may please them.
I'll look for T-shirt and prepare some "goen".
Thank you!!
