Kushiro Parade Cancelled Because of Bizzare Discovery

Don't try to tell Kushiro residents that World war 2 is over a because they may not believe you. Rolling Eyes I may not believe you either after what happened on Friday.Mio and I were totally looking forward to a marvelous parade duing Kushiro's summer festival. Party OK, it was raining a little bit, but not hard enough I thought to cancel the big annual parade, the centerpiece of the summer festival. After the cancellation announcement, which incidentally did not include a valid reason, Mio and I, somewhat disappointed and confused, Confused returned to our guesthouse. It wasn't until the following morning that we first heard the stunning news from the owner of the guesthouse. How shocking it was to find out that the parade was canceled because an unexploded bombshell from world war 2 had been found near the bridge where the parade was suppose to pass over Surprise The Japanese navy ended up having to cart it off to sea.
How's that for a weird closecall! Whew!

Bombshell

Ken,

It's nice to take a peek at your trip through this web site.

When you come home, please bring a bag of cool air to this over-30-degree Shizuoka City and let me smell high-oxygen-density air.

Reading your posting about the finding of an unexploded bombshell, I can't think about people whose lives have been threatened by land mines earthed by stupid dictators.

Don't you think we are lucky to live in a country where unexploded bombshell could be found and safely removed?

Mumky

Another day in Paradise!

You got that right, Mumky! There are a lot of places in the world where people live under the fear of land mines everyday. We do take a lot for granted. There is so much to be grateful for. We're not missing the weather back in Shizuoka too much. I'll try to fill your order for some cool air, but I'm afraid it might escape through the holes in my pockets.Just in case that happens any other souvenir requests? I can most surely guarantee some cool travel tales to bring the temerature down. Today we're off to the famous water falls here that I can walk through with my new funky river socks and there will be a chance to keep the bears at bay with these new adorable bells we got yesterday. Wish us luck! Wink
