cicadas

Tunes of cicada orchestra sounded nicer when I lived places where roads were not covered with concrete and air was not polluted with exhaust fumes from vehicles.
For me, the noise of cicada seducing its mate sounds somewhat sad, knowing that their days are numbered and they are desperate to find a way to inherit its DNA to the new generation, after years of life in darkness.
Well, Mio is right; they are calling for LOVE, which adds flavors to our lives.

Critter Cuisine
You raised some good issues Mumky.

It got me to thinking such deep thoughts about cicadas and decided to check the web.
Lo and behold I cam across some articles about people who actually like to eat cicadas. This is not only limited to cicadas. There also happens to be an Indian restaurant which serves up Cricket cuisine and gourmet grasshopper.
Insects are suppose to be rich in calcium and other important nutrients.
Still seems a bit yucky for me.
Imagine some day walking into a restaurant and having the waiter ask you how you like your cicadas, marinated in teriyaki sauce and fried or roasted with dill. Oh my!
Insect eating culture
Ken,
Thank you for your reply. It's exciting to get a reply, isn't it?
I happened to watch a TV program showing a restaurant which serves crickets and grasshopper. I like fried shrimp so, I think, I could try bugs if they are well cooked.
Now you know I can survive anywhere in the world!
One positive aspect of eating insects
I think I saw the same program Mumky.
It was mind boggling wasn't it!
Might take some real getting use to.Those bugs just don't look very appetizing. One positive aspect however of eating bugs is being able to keep the number of calories down.
That could possibly win over some converts.
Anyway time will tell.
